As much as I love the car and am going to miss it, having it sit around for weeks on end unused is not a fate it deserves. Also, trying to sell anything on AutoTrader/Craigslist/Facebook sucks, but especially a car worth more than $8k. I’m tired of tire kickers, low ballers and scammers. Off to Carmax and Carvana and whoever will pay out the most gets some new inventory!

Thanks! You’d think being in Southern California (permenant convertible weather) that there’d be actual people with money in hand for a convertible, but meh. Three potential buyers ended up with SUVs instead of my Fiat, so I guess that’s just how things are now.

I prefer the 124 for daily duties, but for weekend fun both are fairly equal. Unfortunately since the Miata was hit by that truck awhile back, I’m slightly underwater on it (ND Miatas are depreciating like crazy!) whereas I have some good equity in the 124. Since this is a purely financial move, the 124 is the one to go. :(

Health is very iffy. I’m not doing any better overall despite a few small wins here and there. It’s more like a slow slide at this point, but I’m doing my best every day to fight. Some of the cancer in my liver is responding to the daily chemotherapy/ weekly immunotherapy and radiation, which is amazing news.

Unfortunately I had a new metastatic growing scary fast (4cm/month, or about a golf ball size a month) up in the chest cavity, pushing on my diaphragm, heart chamber and having some fun strangling some arteries - it seems to be resisting all treatments and surgery isn’t an good option.

Kind of on borrowed time at the moment, but my Doc thinks there is a reasonable chance I’ll at least see Christmas this year, bar ring any further changes. After that, not much longer it seems like.

I’ll take what I can get at this point. I’m certain the longer I make it, the more chance I have of finding something that works (or something new coming out that could help).

I’ve narrowed in on the Carmax outside of the Nashville proper zip code as the best for me. They’ve successfully overvalued my last two trade ins to them by thousands of dollars. Both base models cars, Lincoln MKZ and retired rental VW Beetle, were priced as heavily optioned models. Versus the Nashville zip code Carmax went in to hyper detail on bringing down their offer on my Abarth. It’s a really interesting experience considering it should be an equal offer kind of thing.

Man, that’s rough and I honestly don’t quite know how to process it. Hopefully things get to a point where that new tumor can be operated on. I’ll hope to see a post from you next January.

I was thinking about you the other day. I’m glad you’re hanging in and still being positive about life. That’s a different kind of win than people usually mean when they talk about beating cancer, but it’s just as important.
